Skills

Collections Management
My experience with collections management spans from excavating and handling archaeological collections, to taxidermy and object cleaning, to collection registration, to integrated pest management.
Evaluation
I have experience designing an evaluative study that combines surveys and focus groups to better understand non-visitors and how museums should adjust their strategy in order to reach their local community in a more impactful way. A copy of this study is available upon request.

Development and Finance
My experiences with development and finance include donor cultivation, data management in Blackbaud's Altru and Raiser's Edge, budget reconciliation, accounts payable, and grant writing.
Creativity
One of my favorite ways to inspire creativity is to visit other institutions throughout the world in order to see not only what engages me, but to observe the other visitors around me to better understand what makes museums, parks, and other cultural institutions special.

Advocacy and Lobbying
I have studied advocacy and lobbying in museums and nonprofits, conducted a presentation on the subject, and attending Great Lake Audubon's fourth annual Advocacy Day to encourage Hoosier legislators to support bills that would protect wetlands and other crucial habitats, support community energy, and allow for more strategic solutions to infrastructure development.
